Choosing the Right Sunglasses

How to choose the right sunglasses

Even though sunglasses should be a part of your everyday outside wear, summer is the time where you really see them everywhere. So how do you choose sunglasses? Cheapest? Prescription based? Whatever? Well the truth is there really is some things to think about when making your choice… Here are some things to consider…

Ultraviolet Ray Protection:

You want to make sure the sunglasses you choose at the very least offer some type of UV Ray protection. This is a must. UV Rays are bad and the latest research is showing it is getting worse. UV Rays are known to cause cancer, cataracts and a multitude of other eye related problems… The best choice is for total UVA/UVB protective lenses.

Does the Hue or lens color matter?

Yes and no… You may have a pair of sunglasses that have a dark hue but don’t really block out what you really need or you may have a pair of light hue lenses that block the suggested levels of rays… When it comes to hue it is a preference. Just make sure that you choose a hue that does not impede your ability to properly distinguish colors especially while driving.

Do you need polarized lenses too? Well that depends… Some polarization does help in clearing up the glare a bit. If you spend a lot of time in or around the pool or water then polarized lenses would be a good option to have. Aside from blocking out the sun’s rays and protecting your eyes, sunglasses are supposed to make it easier to see outside. If you are around water without polarized lenses then you will still be squinting…

Size, Fit and quality

Yes the quality of the lenses matters. The better the quality the better the product and the better protection you have as well as a product that will last longer… However, if you are like most people you don’t want to drop large amount of cash on a pair of sunglasses that you won’t be able to find in two days… So, go for middle ground. Don’t go with the cheap options and don’t go for the over the top expensive ones. Get a pair that has the proper protection and won’t make you cry if you lose them.

Sunglasses are more and more a fashion statement. However, with that in mind they really need to be more about protecting your eyes. Be sure that you get a pair that property fit your face and cover your vision. There are tons of options to think about and you need to choose the pair that fits your needs and style.
